Drawing

P1

Students engage in a range of art learning experiences whereby they explore a variety of art forms and media. These art-making experiences aim to develop students’ sensory awareness and imagination, as well as hone their visual inquiry skills to discover and explore their surroundings.

At Boon Lay Garden Primary, students learn art through inquiry. They explore and experiment with art materials and processes, to create artworks to share their imagination, thoughts and feelings.

Besides art-making, students also learn to look at and talk about art. They acquire skills to describe and interpret artworks, and learn to appreciate art from different cultures and contexts.

Aesthetics Assembly (P1-P6)
To make arts accessible to all and to build a community who appreciates and supports the arts, the Aesthetics department organises the Aesthetics Assembly once a term.  This is another platform for students and staff to experience a variety of arts forms. External visual and performing arts groups are invited to give talks or perform at the Aesthetics Assemblies.

Aesthetics Week (P1-P6)
In Term 3 Week 9, the Aesthetics department organises the Aesthetics Week to celebrate the arts. During the week-long event, students and staff attend arts assembly programmes and participate in hands-on arts activities during the recesses. There are also open call performances and an art exhibition showcasing students’ musical and artistic talents.

Bringing Art to Our Community
Students also bring their art to the community. Their artworks are exhibited at the Boon Lay Community Art Gallery (Block 221 Boon Lay Place). The colourful display celebrates our students’ artistic accomplishments, it also provides them with the opportunity to contribute to creating a vibrant arts culture in our neighbourhood! In addition, our Art Club students also participated actively in the Passion Arts projects organised by the Boon Lay CC.
