Mother Tongue
Our Goals
To equip students with the necessary communication skills as well as cultural knowledge to enable students to be active learners and proficient users of the respective Mother Tongue Language.
Our Approach
To enable students to gain cultural knowledge, the programmes are thoughtfully tailored to immerse students deeply in a diverse cultural environment and expose them to different cultural practices. Programmes also allow students to learn through listening of music and arts.
Key Programmes
MTL FORTNIGHT
Students are exposed to a wide range of cultural activities and allow authentic usage of Chinese, Malay and Tamil language through competitions and lessons.
SPEECH AND DRAMA
Primary 2 students build their confidence in communication and oratorical skills with the Speech and Drama programme. Through dramatisation, students learn skills such as team building, discipline and creativity.
BICULTURAL PROGRAMME (CHINESE)
P5 and P6 students are exposed to the different genres of Chinese art/culture including Chinese literature, performances, Chinese calligraphy and Language Translation.
P3 MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE (MTL) CAMP
The P3 MTL camp provides an immersive environment for MTL students to learn and use MTL in a more in-depth manner, and to appreciate their respective MTL cultures through hands-on tasks.
